Ultrasonic liposuction has been around for years. The initial ultrasonic uses were first initiated in as early as 1987. After the development of what is known as external ultrasonic, this method of liposuction was divided into separate types. The main types are now internal and external.  Internal ultrasonic uses a vibrating cannula, while external uses machine that vibrates outside the treatment area.

There are several sub variation of this ultrasonic liposuction. There are traditional, wet and tumescent. As you may know, ultra sonic implies a very highly pitched sound or frequency. This is a method that also has other applications in health and other industries, for example, the ultrasonic toothbrush. This liposuction is basically more effective than others at "shaking loose" the fat that must be removed.

There are many areas of the body that ultrasonic liposuction can be used with good results. Popular areas that people want treated with liposuction include the thighs, abdominal and face areas.
